      Dear Mushtaque,
In Your Shoes is a Indo-norgeigian fictional writing competition. What you have to do is to write a fictional text ( can be any genre) that takes place in Norway if you are indian. If you come from Norway you are encouraged to write an entry that takes place in India. NB: Please read the GUIDELINES for the competition on this site under “ABOUT”, or se facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Indo-Norwegian-Writing-Competition/187289351370572

      Wish you good luck!!!!

    Hei !

This project is a really good idea, I would only like to know if the prizes works for both ways ?
That is to say, if we write something about India, will the prize be a trip to India ?
I am a french student in Norway for a year and by the way, I know this country better than India 🙂

Thanks a lot for the answer, hoping that it will be a success,
    Camille.

      Dear Camille, thanks for writing.

Yes, the competition is works both ways, – the main-winner writing about Norway wins a trip to Norway, whereas the main-winner writing about India wins a trip to India.
The rest of the best texts will be compiled and published in an anthology. All texts will be translated into Norwegian, English and Hindi.

You are very welcome to participate from “the norwegian side” and write your text about India. (In English/Norwegian/Hindi).

Best of luck and looking forward to read!

Does the fiction include the regard of geographical, social, cultural and economic factors of the country we writing about? please tell if we are required to give any title to our fiction or not. e.g, an evening in Lillesand.

You may choose to include detailed description of such things that you are mentioning, and you may also choose to put your focus on other things. This is entirely up to you and what you feel is necessary for your text.

Title is not required, but most times it suites a texts to have a title.

      Best of luck!

I have never been to Norway. Please tell that in such a scenario how can i write about or relate to something which i had never seen till now ? can it be a 100% imaginative work ? (like for example how i imagine the life to be there without any reference to the actual life/work/people conditions living in norway )

It’s an excellent way to take the relationship between Norway and India a step ahead!! Would love to participate. Is there a word limit for the write up? Kindly give details.

Hello, I am from India. Can this be a work of pure fiction ? or does it need to have to be based on true locations in Norway ? I am a student in India and of Indian origin. So should I write about Norway ? A piece of fiction relates to a novel. so can it be a short novel or short story ?
    Please Advise

There are no guidelines or rules mentioning either of the two – that means that you are free to do both!
Yes, as an Indian you are invited to write fictional texts that are about Norway and your thoughts, imaginations and perceptions about Norway and the people living there,
A piece of fiction may be any fictional genre – poem, play, short story ect. ect.
Novel should be a little long, as the maximum word length is approximately 2,000 words.

      Best of luck!!!

Hello I am Rajinder Pal Singh from India.
Can you please clarify what you mean to say ‘that takes place in Norway’
I am not able to understand what does this phrase ‘that takes place in Norway’ really mean.
    Kindly elaborate.

    • indianorway
      June 11, 2012

That means that the context of the fiction is Norway.
The plot/parts of the plot should be happening in Norway.
How do you imagine Norway and/or norwegian people to be like? Use your imaginations and perceptions about the place and the people and incorporate them into the fiction.
      Hope this clarifies? 🙂

Kindly confirm one thing. I sent my text some half an hour back. Within seconds of sending, i realized that the very last line of my text is not visible on the print-out paper. To rectify that, I sent another REVISED E-mail after rectifying the said mistake. It would be very nice of you if you can tell me whether the REVISED text has reached you or not ?
